Obviously, the first on the list would be the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. These two sights are easily the most American things to do on the east coast. The Statue of Liberty celebrates America and our freedom, and Ellis Island recognizes immigrants that came from all over the world to shape our history.
Mount Rushmore is where patriotism thrives. It’s a symbol of America and our hard work and dedication. Although traveling to this big rock in South Dakota may be a bit of a stretch, it will be well worth it when you get to take in the amazing monument that is our founding fathers.
The Mall of America, the biggest mall in the country that attracts around 40 million tourists a year, is a great place to go and check out good ol\’ American consumerism in the works. It’s also an opportunity to check out Minnesota—a little-known state with a lot of culture in its cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
In Ohio, you can tour the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, two pastimes that make America unique. Both Hall of Fames honor great Americans that excel in athletics or music and have made the culture of America what it is today.
So find a historical site near you and celebrate the country you call your home. You may not realize it, but American history is everywhere—and it’s great.
