Which great city is the most populous in Colorado, 12 miles away from the Rocky Mountains and is known as the Mile-High City (Ok, that one made it kind of obvious)? You guessed it—Denver. The city is actually one mile above sea level and was ranked No. 1 place to live in the United States by U.S. News & World Report in 2016. So naturally, visiting Denver is nothing short of amazing.

Founded during the gold rush, Denver is home to many cultural sites, beautiful botanic gardens and, of course, the Denver Broncos. There are also tons of art museums in Denver if art is what you are looking for. Try out the Denver Art Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art as well as the Denver Performing Arts Complex for some beautiful sculptures, paintings and shows.
If you like sports, Denver has a lot in store for you. Visit the Colorado Rockies baseball team at the famous Coors Field for some all-American fun, or the INVESCO Field where the enviable Broncos (and Superbowl 50 winners) play their home games.
And if you love to hike or be outdoors, a 90-minute drive from downtown Denver will get you to the Rocky Mountain National Park, a hot-spot for nature-loving tourists. There you can hike, ski or enjoy the scenery. Denver is also the home of the Denver Botanic Gardens, where you can soak up the serenity and the nice weather (hopefully!).
If you’re hungry or thirsty, visit Union Station, a cool historic site that has been renovated and has some great food and drinks (especially some good beer).
