Located at East River State Park—Kent Ave. and N. 7th Street on the Williamsburg River—Smorgasburg Saturdays are a famous event for those who are in Brooklyn for the summer. Whether you are a local or a tourist, this event will be sure have you stuffed to the brim when leaving. The Smorgasburg Brooklyn Flea Food Market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm. It\’s packed with foodies, locals and tourists alike, be sure to get there early!
Once you arrive, you can find fresh food, drinks and sweets alike from vendors in New York City and across the area. Combined, there are about 75-100 vendors no matter the weather. The Smorgasburg Flea Food Market began in May of 2011 in conjunction with the Brooklyn Flea, a market started in 2008 by Jonathan Butler and Eric Demby and is open from April through November. The goal of this market is to put on display local foods and treats for visitors. The Smorgasburg Flea Food Market has over 10,000 visitors on a daily basis. Because of this, it is one of Brooklyn’s most frequented tourist destinations. According to The New York Times, it is “The Woodstock of Eating.”
Not only is there the food and flea market in Brooklyn, but vendors here also maintain concessions sold at the Central Park SummerStage. They\’re also in charge of a pop-up beer garden in the Seaport District of New York City and the food in Crown Heights since 2014.
Want more of the Smorgasburg foods? Visit the Seaport “Smorg” located at 11 Fulton Street in the Seaport District of New York City. Here, there are six Smorgasburg vendors, indoor and outdoor bars. The indoor bars have a capacity for 200, while the outdoor bars can have up to 600 people. The Seaport Smorgasburg is open every day of the week for lunch through dinner.
